Questions

Deep cleaning: your questions answered

What is the difference between a deep clean and a regular clean?
A regular clean maintains a home that is already in good order — surfaces, floors, kitchen, bathrooms. A deep clean goes after everything a regular clean does not reach: inside the oven and refrigerator, behind and beneath appliances, baseboards, door frames, light fixtures, ceiling fans, vents, grout, window tracks and sills, and the build-up that quietly accumulates out of sight.
How often should a home be deep cleaned?
Every three to six months is the usual professional recommendation for a home in regular use. Out here there are extra triggers: opening a house at the start of the season, closing it at the end, after building work, or before or after hosting.
Do I need a deep clean before starting regular cleaning?
Usually, yes — and any cleaner who says otherwise is probably cutting corners. The first visit brings the home up to a standard that regular cleaning can then hold. Skip it and every subsequent visit is spent fighting a backlog that never quite goes away.
How long does a deep clean take?
Considerably longer than a standard clean, and it scales with both size and condition. A large home that has been closed for a season is a genuinely different proposition from a well-kept two-bedroom. We would rather quote you honestly after seeing it than promise a number of hours we cannot keep.
Do you clean inside the oven and refrigerator?
Yes — both are part of a deep clean, along with cabinet exteriors, behind and under the appliances, and degreasing the surfaces around them. These are exactly the jobs people put off, which is why they need doing properly.
Is a deep clean worth it before selling or letting a home?
Almost always. A property that is genuinely clean — not just tidied — shows better in photographs and in person, and it removes the easiest possible objection from a buyer or a tenant.
