Party staffing: your questions answered

How many staff do I need for my event?
It depends on the format and the guest count. As general industry guidance, plated service typically runs about one server per 10–12 guests, buffet service about one per 20, and passed canapés about one per 25; bar service is commonly around one bartender per 50 guests for a full bar. Tell us the numbers and the style and we will recommend a team — and we will tell you if you are over-ordering.
What do party helpers actually do?
Setup before guests arrive, passing food and drinks, clearing and bussing during the event, washing up, and the full breakdown and clean afterwards. In practice, the most valuable thing they do is let the host be a guest at their own party.
Do you clean before and after the party?
Yes — and it is the combination that people find most useful. We prepare the house beforehand, staff the event itself, and put the whole place back in order afterwards, so you are not facing the aftermath the next morning.
How early do staff arrive?
Typically 30 to 60 minutes before guests, and earlier where there is real setup to do. We would rather arrive with time in hand than have you watching the clock.
How far ahead should I book for a summer weekend?
As early as you can. The Hamptons season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day and the good weekends go first — Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Hampton Classic week are the ones that fill up earliest.
Do you provide bartenders as well as servers?
Tell us what the event needs and we will put together the right team for it — including household help and additional hands for larger gatherings. We would rather have the conversation than sell you a fixed package.
